This year's Fast theme is: 40 Days of Fasting and Praying for 2018 “The Year of the Dare”
During the fast you should set aside specific times for Bible reading and prayer. It doesn’t matter what age you are, anyone can fast. If you can’t go without food, give up something else you love such as: candy, junk food, coffee, pop, television, movies, talking on the phone (except for emergencies), etc. Keep in mind that fasting requires sacrifice. That is the purpose of it. It is not supposed to be easy. But God will reward your sacrifice.
Please keep in mind that a fast without prayer is just being hungry for nothing. You must make an effort to devote yourself to prayer. Many pray during the time of meals they have given up. You decide the time but please pray much.
God bless you as you begin this “40 Days of Growth.” Remember to take it one day at a time, be prayerful as you go, read the recommended scripture that has been provided for each day and keep a journal to write down prayer requests, answers and changes you see both in yourself and those for whom you will be praying.
The 40 day fast will be broken into four segments each lasting for 10 days. They are as follows:
1. February 14 - 23: fasting for self
2. February 24 - March 5: fasting for family
3. March 6 - 15: fasting for the land
4. March 16 - 25: fasting for Lighthouse
Use this page to find more information about fasting, types of fasts and Scriptures for each 10 day segment, as well a fasting devotional booklet. God bless you as you begin this spiritual journey. Take it one day at a time and ask God for guidance and grace for each new day. As you read God's Word ask for His wisdom and understanding. Take time to meditate on each passage and even spend time journaling about your feelings, what God is saying to you and what you are learning. Spend much time in prayer! Remembering that prayer is both talking to God and listening to God.
